New Oakley sunglasses are packaged in a branded retail box. Check for print and image quality on the packaging. Also check that the logo and font matches one used officially by Oakley. Be aware that genuine packaging can accompany counterfeit sunglasses.

Step 2: Box Label
The retail box label details manufacturer information, barcode, model name, frame and lens description. Check that these details match the details of, and detailed on, the sunglasses themselves, and on any accompanying paperwork.

Step 3: Dust Bag
New Oakley sunglasses are accompanied by a branded dust cloth bag. Check that the logo and font used matches that of an official Oakley logo. Also check the quality of the material used, it usually has a smooth finish, and that any stitching is straight and neatly finished.

Step 4: Dust Bag Logo
The dust cloth bag features an Oakley or HDO logo. Check the O letter shape is consistent with the official logo, and that any stitching is straight and neatly finished.

Step 5: Frame Logo
Oakley sunglasses feature the Oakley logo on the frame. Check the shape of the letters carefully, and that the edging is clean. There should be no glue or untidy gaps to the frame, and no flaking of colour.

Step 6: Left Temple
Oakley sunglasses usually feature a model name, number and sizing details on the inside of the left temple arm.  The lens and bridge sizing numbers are also separated by a small Oakley 'O'. Check that all details match those on the retail box label.

Step 7: Right Temple
"Made in USA" is often found engraved or printed on the inside of the right temple arm. Original Oakley sunglasses are manufactured in the USA, not China or Taiwan. The letters CE are also featured representing European Conformity.

Step 8: Paperwork
New Oakley sunglasses sometimes come with a certficate of authenticity and a warranty card. The warranty card has the 'O' symbol on the front and normally unfolds into a larger document. It looks like a mini booklet when folded.
