Do's and Don'ts of Wearing Crop Tops

DO: Rock crop tops with high-waisted bottoms.A crop top paired with high-waisted anything (maxi skirts, jean shorts, printed pants, etc) is the perfect outfit for summer. High-waisted bottoms balance out the outfit and allow you to show some skin without being naked. Mid-riffs are typically the slimmest part on a woman’s body which means this outfit combination is more flattering than you might think.
DONT: Wear crop tops with low-rise bottoms. In the summertime, revealing a little skin is always sexy, but if you’re baring too much you could end up looking like Christina Aguilera circa 2002. Crop tops are a bold enough statement on their own. Save the extreme belly baring for the beach.

DO: Find the right crop top for your body. Crop tops come in all different styles, fabrics, and lengths and it’s important that you choose the right one for you.

·         If you're petite: Try a snug-fitting crop top to accentuate your curves.
·         If you're full chested: Be careful of the neckline. Look for something with a crew or scoop neck.
·         If you're curvy: As a curvy girl myself, I often flaunt "mid-length" crop tops. They're a little longer, but just as fashionable.
DON'T: Bras are not crop tops. They're just not. Enough said.
DO: Wear crop tops to the beach, dinner with your boyfriend, or a night out on the town. When you find the perfect crop top, you'll want to wear it everywhere. Lucky for you, you can (well almost, see below.)
·         At the beach:Keep things casual and pair your crop top with high-waisted light wash denim jean shorts. To complete your outfit, throw on your favorite sunnies and a fedora. Don't forget your sunscreen!
·         Date night with your man: If your boyfriend doesn't understand
fashion, he might be a little freaked out by your outfit choice. To keep
your ensemble looking classy and cute opt for a slightly longer crop top with printed pants. Throw on a
lightweight sweater for a little extra coverage.
·         Girl's night out: Now is your opportunity to be a little less cute and a little more sexy. Choose a crop top with embellishment, mesh inserts, or a revealing neckline (pick one, not all.) Depending on the look you're going for, pair with a high-waisted skater skirt or tight-fitting pencil skirt. Slip on a pair of high-heels and you're good to go.
DON'T: Wear crop tops to work.Unless you want to get fired. Work environments are a little more laid back than they used to be, but there's still a level of professionalism. The men in the office should respect you as their co-worker, not day dream about you during their lunch break.
DO: Be confident. As a self-proclaimed fashionista, my favorite accessory for any outfit is confidence. People have different styles and personalities so as long as you feel good, you'll look good.
