Skin Care for Men

Smooth & Clean

  • Because men’s pores are larger than women’s, they can get clogged more easily, causing acne and blemishes. Deep cleansing is important, so use the proper face wash geared toward your skin type. Exfoliate your skin with a cleansing scrub to rid your face of dead skin cells.
If you have smooth, yet oily skin, use a face wash with more salicylic acid to remove dead skin from the surface and get rid of excess oils. If you have dry, rough skin, use a face wash with moisturizers. Use a moisturizing aftershave or lotion. Substituting pure aloe vera or liquid vitamin E is OK, if you do not have other moisturizers.

Shave properly so you do not cut and burn your face. Covering your face with warm water several times before shaving will allow your skin to move more freely with the blade of the razor, rather than pull against it. If you don’t do that, you will most likely get razor burn. Once finished shaving, apply an aftershave that is alcohol free so you do not burn your face. When new skin is revealed on the surface, it is more sensitive.

Diet & Health

  • Eating a balanced diet filled with fruits, vegetables and water will help keep your skin fresh and vibrant. Fruits and veggies are filled with natural antioxidants that help blood and oxygen circulate to your skin cells, giving you a fresher appearance, removing toxins from your skin and helping to flush them away.
Always wear SPF sunscreen, if you are outside consistently. The sun can do major damage to your skin and cause sunspots, sunburn and skin cancer. Proper SPF will protect your skin from sun damage and help fight against other harmful elements.
