The Galaxy Tab Vs. the iPad

Display

    The iPad 3 display measures 9.7 inches and its 2,048 by 1,536 screen resolution delivers 3.1 million pixels. The LED-backlit display features in-plane switching technology, which enhances widescreen viewing. The Galaxy Tab's 10.1-inch display has a screen resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels. The display features the thin-film-transistor (TFT) technology standard, which supports wide viewing angles.

Performance

     The iPad 3 uses iOS 5, Apple’s most recent mobile operating system that powers the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Apple built the iPad on its A5X dual-core 1 GHz processor, which features quad-core graphics and low power consumption. Apple has not revealed the amount of memory in the iPad 3, but previous iPads came with 512MB of memory.
 A basic Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs on Android 3.1, and upscale models are powered by Android’s latest Honeycomb operating system.
Capacity
     Samsung offers Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G models. Both have Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has an estimated battery life of nine hours, and models come equipped with either 16GB or 32GB of storage. Apple's latest iPad is available in Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 4G models with Bluetooth 4.0. The Wi-Fi + 4G tablet can function as a hot spot, enabling you to share your connection with other devices, and it can roam on 3G networks. The storage capacity options for the iPad 3 are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Estimated battery life for the iPad 3 is 10 hours on Wi-Fi and 9 hours on a 4G network.

Media Features

     The Galaxy Tab sports a 2-megapixel front camera and a rear 3-megapixel flash camera that records 720p HD videos. This tablet can display Flash content, and it has an HDMI-out port. Connecting it to an HD TV requires an adapter. The iPad 3 has a 5-megapixel rear camera that records 1080p HD video, and a front camera that produces VGA photos and videos.
