5 Simple Skin Care Changes for Men

Gone are the days when skin care is just for women. There are an amazing amount of skin care companies whose goals are to keep men looking their best (and youngest). It’s time you started paying better attention to your skin, but that doesn’t mean that you are going to have to make a lot of changes in your routine. Switch out some of your current products with some Men's skin care products and you’re well on your way to a younger looking healthy face.

Ditch that bar of soap.

You know that bar of soap you use to clean under your arms (as well as other non mentionable places)? Please, give me one good reason why you think it’s a good choice for your face? It’s not! Ignoring the fact that you clean your entire body with it, most bar soaps also strip everything off of your skin. Good for most areas of your body, but not for the good oils on your face. Get a product that specifically says “facial cleanser”.

Switch your aftershave for a balm.

If you’re using an alcohol based aftershave, it’s time to pick something else. Many aftershaves create a burning sensation when you apply it to your face after shaving. Shaving gives your skin a slight exfoliation, which means it removes a layer of dead skin. Add in any nicks or cuts you might have, no wonder your skin burns! Check the labels and find a shaving balm without alcohol which will sooth and heal your skin.

You really should moisturize.

Everyone wants good looking healthy skin; you’re not going to achieve that if you don’t moisturize daily. If you don’t moisturize your skin, you are more prone to fine lines and wrinkles due to dehydration. There are many men’s skin care lines available, or you can choose a fragrance free moisturizer. Cetaphil is a good choice that is available at your local drugstore.

Don’t forget your lips.

Hydrated lips are probably not top on your list. But you know what it feels like when your lips are chapped and scaly. Licking them only makes them worse. Get a chap stick or lip balm and keep it in your pocket with your change or at your desk at work. Don’t keep it in your car; the heat will melt it.

Look at your hands; are they rough, dry or scaly?

If you have a job where you have to shake hands during the day or if you’re out with the guys possibly meeting women, you don’t want to have people cringe at the sight or feel of your hands. Again, you have many options for moisturizers that are just for guys
